Why ClinDesk runs on your own computer, not in our cloud

A patient writing to a clinic on WhatsApp is telling the clinic what hurts, what they took for it, what they are afraid of, and what they hope will happen next. That conversation belongs in two places: with the patient and with the clinic. Not in a vendor's patient database.

When we started building ClinDesk, the easiest path was the same one many AI tools take: send messages to a cloud, run the AI there, and send drafts back. It is convenient for the software company. It also means the patient base of every clinic that signs up flows through one company's infrastructure. We did not want to be that company, and the doctors we built with did not want a tool that made them take that risk.

So ClinDesk is assistant-first and local-first. Your assistant works where your data lives: on the clinic computer. It can read the clinic's WhatsApp, draft replies, summarize voice notes, prepare chart updates, and organize follow-up work without moving the raw patient conversation to ClinDesk's servers.

In practice, that changes the questions a clinic has to ask.

  • There is no ClinDesk cloud database full of your patients.
  • If you stop using ClinDesk, the working records are still on the computer your clinic owns.
  • Compliance reviews start from a simpler fact: patient conversations did not leave your control for the assistant to work.
  • Phone alerts are still possible. The ClinDesk app on your phone receives encrypted alerts and approval requests, while the patient context stays anchored to the clinic computer.

There is a tradeoff. The clinic computer has to be on for ClinDesk to work. We chose that tradeoff because it keeps the assistant close to the source of truth and keeps the vendor farther away from the most sensitive material in the clinic.

If you are evaluating tools, ask the basic question first: where do patient messages live? If the answer is "our cloud," ask what happens if the company is acquired, breached, changes its terms, or shuts down. Then ask the same question about ClinDesk.

ClinDesk is a personal AI assistant for clinicians that runs on the clinic's own computer. It answers the clinic's WhatsApp, drafts replies, fills patient charts from chats and voice notes, and keeps Appointments and follow-ups on track. Every action is a proposal until the clinician approves it. It replaces neither the doctor nor the assistant, and patient chats never touch ClinDesk's servers.
